GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — On Sunday morning, GR.Church held a prayer vigil for conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed at a speaking event in Utah Wednesday. The community came together to honor and celebrate his life, many of them remembering his visit to the church in 2020.
“My friend Charlie was taken from us in a way that was unjust and violent and evil and I wrestled with anger and sadness this week,” said Cody Kuehl, the pastor of GR.Church, in front of the congregation.
Kuehl connected with Kirk during the COVID-19 pandemic. He said it was an uncertain time for many but Kirk was able to provide clarity to those in attendance. He called the visit “one of the best services” the church ever had.
