PHILADELPHIA — Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer’s stat line wasn’t uber flashy in the Sooners’ 42-3 win over Temple on Saturday .
Mateer completed just 20-of-34 passes (58.8%) for 282 yards and a touchdown. But that didn’t bother head coach Brent Venables, who liked the steadiness and vigor Mateer brought to the Sooners’ first true road game of the season.
