ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

The New Mexico State Fair Junior Livestock Sale on Friday, featuring FFA and 4-H youth and their animals from across the state, raised $738,700, the second-largest amount in the fair's history.

"These kids work incredibly hard, nurturing and caring for their animals to prepare for the sale," said Dan Mourning, general manager of the fair. "The near record high proceeds from this year's sale is a testament to their tireless efforts."

The Grand Champion Junior Market results were Samuel Fodge of Eddy County (steer, $29,000); Kody White of Curry County (lamb, $15,000); Kaitlyn Hall of Quay County (swine, $6,000); Tristan Salopek of Dona Ana County (goat, $15,000); and Elsie Matthews of Roosevelt County (heifer, $5,500).
