CENTENNIAL, Colo. — A man armed with a machete and a knife was killed Sunday morning by a deputy outside a Walmart in Centennial, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office.
Around 7:12 a.m., deputies responded to a report of shoplifting at the store at 10900 E. Briarwood Ave. and located the suspect.
When deputies tried to contact him, he approached them with a machete and a knife, the sheriff's office said.
One deputy fired a taser at the man, which was ineffective, according to the sheriff's office. Another deputy then shot him, the sheriff's office said.
Deputies began life-saving efforts, but he was pronounced dead by medical personnel when they arrived at the scene, according to the sheriff's office.
