A luxury family home with a yoga retreat in one of Brisbane’s most sought-after school catchments has set a suburb record in Upper Mount Gravatt, after seven bidders battled it out in an auction that hit $2.96 million in 10 minutes.

In front of a crowd of almost 200, the five-bedroom, five-bathroom house at 29 Sunnydale Street sold for a reserve-topping sum almost $1 million more than the suburb’s median, as fears of future property price hikes spark spring buying fever.

Featuring a meditation zone, an inground pool and a fully-equipped gym on a 647-square-metre block in the Mansfield State High School catchment, the home – designed and built three years ago – had more than 200 inspections throughout the campaign and 25 registered bidders.
