Ottawa police will be present at St. Mark High School on Monday morning following a threat linked to social media posts made by a staff member. The Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) became aware of the threat over the weekend, prompting immediate action.

The threat is associated with posts regarding the recent death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot in the neck while speaking at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. In a letter addressed to families of St. Mark students, Principal Alison Strucchelli stated, "Recently, social media posts connected to one of our staff members have been circulating online."

The letter, which was shared with the public, emphasized that the posts were made outside of school hours and on a personal account. Strucchelli noted that these posts do not reflect the values or mission of St. Mark Catholic High School or the OCSB. "The Board takes this situation seriously and is looking into it expeditiously and carefully," she added.

Upon learning of the threat, the OCSB contacted the Ottawa Police Service immediately. The police are currently investigating the matter. The letter also confirmed that police would be on-site at the school on Monday morning to ensure safety.

As of Sunday evening, police had not released additional information regarding the situation. The OCSB is committed to maintaining a safe environment for its students and staff.
