Two people were hospitalized Sunday after flames broke out at a home in Attleborough, Massachusetts.

The fire department says crews responded to a structure fire at 57 East Street around 1:49 p.m. and arrived to find smoke coming from the first floor of the residence.

A male living in the first-floor apartment suffered burns to his head and face, as well as smoke inhalation, the fire officials said. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital. A good Samaritan who assisted him in exiting the burning home was also injured. She was taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.
