ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — Two people were taken to the hospital Sunday after a fire broke out at a multi-family home in Attleboro.

According to Attleboro Fire Chief Scott LaChance, crews responded to 57 East St. around 1:45 p.m. and arrived to find smoke coming from the first floor.

The fire was contained to the first-floor living room, but LaChance said there was smoke damage throughout the home. Its residents were displaced as a result.

A man who lives on the first floor was taken to Rhode Island Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation and burns to his head and face.

A neighbor who helped the man get out of the home was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital with suspected smoke inhalation, according to LaChance.
