LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - On Sunday, the Capital City Dragon Boat Races set sail.
However, the boats don’t actually have sails.
Participants row the boats as a form of healing through physical movement.
The goal of the race is to bring awareness to the power of healing.
The Women’s Center of Greater Lansing took on a Dragon Boat Race in honor of one of its founding directors, who passed away from breast cancer.
Now the center makes the race an annual tradition.
Organizers say racing is one of the best recovery exercises for breast cancer survivors.
In addition to the race, the Women’s Center says the funding raised from the event goes a long way.
