CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — The Honor Flight of NCWV brought home 14 veterans and 16 guardians who accompanied them to Washington, D.C., for a full weekend of sightseeing, camaraderie building, and for most, the opportunity to be welcomed home as heroes. Many of their personal experiences were much different upon their return home to America during the Vietnam War.
In years past, the Honor Flight literally included a plane ride, but organizers realized that there could be an easier and less rushed one-day visit to the nation’s capital. They decided this year to transport the veterans and their guardians by bus after seeing one such operation in Virginia last year.
