9/11 remembered in Knoxville

Knoxville held its 24th ceremony to remember the September 11, 2001, attack on the World Trade Center in New York. The event last Thursday began with patriotic bagpipe music performed by Kelly Shipe. It ended with “Taps” played by Phillip Troutman. Reverend Pam Neal, chaplain for the Knoxville Fire Department, spoke of those killed and those who survived during the well-attended ceremony that included relatives of 9/11 victims.
Members of the Knoxville Police and Fire Departments lined the sidewalk leading to the 9/11 Memorial in front of the City-County Building. Several attendees placed flowers at the monument, which carries the names of all who died in the attacks on the New York buildings, the Pentagon
