Councillor numbers would be slashed and the survivors would get higher payments under mooted statewide reforms.
A discussion paper released by Local Government Minister Kerry Vincent on September 15 proposed that councillor numbers be reduced at all but one council and councillor allowances increase by a minimum 14.25 per cent.
Mr Vincent said it would have no net cost to the community (because of the lower number of councillors).
All up, 60 councillor spots would go around the state's 29 councils, reducing the elected total to 203.
Councils would have a maximum of nine elected members, some would have seven and some would have five.
Some would lose as many as four seats.
