The LAFD deployed multiple units and various emergency response teams to assist in the operation
A 50-year-old man drowned in the ocean channel at Marina Del Rey Harbor on Sunday morning, authorities said.
The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to the incident at 8:38 a.m. at 5517 S Ocean Front Walk, assisting Los Angeles County Lifeguards and Fire in a search operation. The man was last seen entering the water before he was located approximately 30 yards from his point of entry by county lifeguards, according to LAFD spokesperson Margaret Stewart.
Lifeguards transported the man to the Beaches and Harbor docks, where LAFD firefighter/paramedics provided advanced medical care. Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
