Hundreds of pigs are believed to have perished in a piggery fire at Andgar Proprietors in Dublin, about an hour's drive north of Adelaide.
A representative for the piggery confirmed two sheds at the facility caught fire on Monday morning.
They said each shed housed roughly 250 pigs.
Emergency crews were called to the scene about 11:30am, and crews are still battling to bring the fire under control.
A CFS spokesperson said it was believed hot and dry conditions caused nearby hay bales to spontaneously combust.
An Andgar Proprietors spokesperson estimated losses of at least $200,000.
It is unclear how many pigs have been killed in the fire, but it is expected many others will need to be euthanased.
