The Albanese government’s latest climate report has been dubbed the "mother of all scare campaigns" to "scare Australians to accept higher taxes” by Nationals Senator Matt Canavan.

The National Climate Risk Assessment was released on Monday, ahead of the Albanese government’s planned 2035 emissions reduction target .

The report modelled scenarios of up to 3°C global warming, warning that risks to communities, property, and the economy were “very high or severe”.

Speaking to Sky News on Monday, Nationals Senator Matt Canavan said his initial reaction to the fresh report was that it was a “massive exercise in scaremongering”.
