A major probe is under way following the discovery of "possible human remains" at a beauty spot in Loch Lomond.

Police Scotland said the alarm was raised near to Rubha Dubh, at Firkin Point, at about 12.40pm on Saturday.

A force spokesperson said: "Extensive enquiries are ongoing."

Firkin Point, between Tarbet and Inverbeg, is on the West Loch Lomond Cycle Path and is a popular picnic spot with camping pitches.
