State planners have unanimously backed changes to a pod-style hotel planned for Fremantle.
The Metro Inner Development Assessment Panel supported budget accommodation provider LyLo’s plan to reduce its Essex Street development from four to three floors while cramming in more bunks for travellers.
Ironically, that’s the height residents unsuccessfully demanded last year when the pod-hotel plan was put under the microscope multiple times through council and State planning approval processes.
The changes will reduce the total number of bedrooms from 80 to 62 but increase the total number of beds from 247 to 263.
Panel members said it was an appropriate use for the site.
