Luna Leederville is celebrating 30 years at the heart of Perth’s independent cinema scene by looking both back and forward, with a time capsule burial marking its history and community impact.
Staff and patrons buried the time capsule at the back of the cinema under a tree today, filled with memorabilia, ticket stubs and handwritten notes.
What started in 1994 as a humble twin-screen cinema on the corner of Oxford and Vincent streets has grown into what many dub the beating heart of WA’s film culture.
Housed inside a heritage-listed Art Deco building, Luna has long been more than just a place to go and watch a movie; it is a cultural hub, a meeting point and, for many, a second home.
