ALBANY – Governor Kathy Hochul has joined Congressman Pat Ryan (NY-18) in endorsing polarizing New York City Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.

The four-way race for mayor in the city has Democrat Mandani polling at 45 percent, fellow Democrat and disgraced former Gov. Andrew Cuomo polling at 23 percent, Republican Curtis Sliwa at 15 percent, and current Mayor Eric Adams at 12 percent, according to the latest Quinnipiac University poll.

Hochul announced her support of the self-described Democratic Socialist on Sunday in the New York Times’ opinion section, providing the 33-year-old Assemblyman from Queens with his biggest endorsement.

Hochul said that she and Mamdani had differences in the past, but agreed on the need to tackle the city’s and state’s affordability crisis.
