A three-week-old baby girl has tragically died following a horrific accident in the popular Spanish holiday resort of Calpe. The incident occurred when an out-of-control car rolled down a hill, striking the baby and her mother, who was pushing her in a pram. The accident unfolded in front of the woman’s husband and their four-year-old son.

The baby was rushed to the neo-natal intensive care unit at La Fe Hospital in Valencia but sadly succumbed to her injuries. Meanwhile, the mother sustained severe injuries, including the amputation of one leg and the development of a blood clot. She is currently in the intensive care unit at Denia Hospital.

Local authorities have not disclosed the nationalities of the victims. An investigation has been launched by local police, who are examining the possibility that the car's handbrake failed, leading to the tragic incident. It has been confirmed that the vehicle involved was not owned by the family.

The accident took place near a private residential area in Calpe, although the precise location has yet to be disclosed. Calpe Rock, known as Penon de Ifach, is a well-known landmark along the Costa Blanca coastline, rising over 300 metres above the Mediterranean and offering stunning views of the region.

Town hall officials were unavailable for comment regarding the incident.
