The Department for Work and Pensions is set to administer vital £150 payments to millions of homes in a huge boost. The DWP has confirmed that eligibility letters for the Warm Home Discount will begin landing on doorsteps from October 20.

Households in England and Wales don't have to apply to get the cash and receive it automatically. To be eligible, you need to have been claiming one of seven means-tested benefits on a specific date - August 24.

The seven benefits include the guaranteed credit element of pension credit, Income Support, Income based Jobseeker's Allowance, Income related Employment and Support Allowance, Housing Benefit, Universal Credit , and the "Savings Credit" part of pension credit.
