Police are investigating after a food delivery driver allegedly lured someone into his car at the University of Connecticut over the weekend and tried to sexually assault them.

The incident was reported just before 6 p.m. Saturday in the Hilltop Apartments parking lot, according to an alert sent from the UConn Police Department to the school community.

Police said the individual was a DoorDash driver who enticed someone into his vehicle while completing a delivery. The victim entered the vehicle and was assaulted, according to police.

The victim was able to get to safety before the driver left the area in a 1998 gold Toyota Camry, police said. Authorities described the incident as an attempted sexual assault.

The driver was believed to be about 30 years old, according to police.
