MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) -- A press conference will be hosted by the Shelby County Democratic Party at the plaza in front of City Hall Monday morning.

The purpose of the conference is to address the deployment of National Guard troops coming to Memphis.

It will begin at 8 a.m.

This comes after President Trump officially announced last Friday on "Fox and Friends" that he was sending in troops to fix the "deeply troubled" city.

“We’re going to Memphis, I’m just announcing that now, and we’ll straighten that out,” Trump said on Fox. “National Guard, and anybody else we need. And by the way, we’ll bring in the military, too, if we need it.”

Public and city leaders have mixed reactions about the troops being deployed.
