A borough of Greater Manchester has been crowned the UK's top place to live.

With its rich industrial heritage blending with green countryside, parks and canals, Wigan has topped the list after a study looked for places where residents enjoy the best quality of life.

A study by independent estate agency Kaybridge Residential analysed towns and cities across the UK, scoring locations based on four key factors - cost of living, crime rates, air quality and access to healthcare - with the final quality of life score calculated out of 100.

Wigan topped the list after achieving an impressive perfect 100 score.
