The Cincinnati Bengals could be without quarterback Joe Burrow for three months or longer after a serious toe injury. Known as turf toe, Burrow planted his left foot into the ground on a sack, stressing the ligaments of his big toe.
It is often known as a painful injury, but only requires surgery in rare, severe cases. According to reports, Burrow’s might be one of those rare cases, as imaging is being sent to specialist Dr. Robert Anderson. While the aggressive timeline on a return from surgery is three months, it could also be season-ending.
Burrow left the stadium on crutches and in a walking boot. He is expected to find out if surgery will be needed early this week, and if he gets good news, he will still miss multiple games.
