Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday expressed strong confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form its first government in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), pledging transparent governance and equitable development for all communities.

Addressing a rain-soaked election rally at Thuribari in Chirang district, Sarma told supporters, “This time we will form a BJP government in BTC. That is why we are contesting the elections alone.”

The chief minister noted that since its creation in 2003, the BTC has been governed first by the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) and later by the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), but never by the BJP. Yet, he said, the state government had consistently supported the council’s development.
