President Donald Trump is threatening to assert control over D.C. police again if the city does not cooperate with federal immigration authorities.

The president’s 30-day control of the D.C. police department expired last week, but he said in a social media post early Monday that crime “would come roaring back” if Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D) does not work with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on deportations of “dangerous illegal aliens.”

“To the people and businesses of Washington, D.C., DON’T WORRY, I AM WITH YOU, AND WON’T ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN,” Trump said. “I’ll call a National Emergency, and Federalize, if necessary!!!”
