WASHINGTON – Wisconsin U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson says it is not his place to steer the Republican Party of Wisconsin, even as the party has struggled to raise funds and recently saw the retirement of an up and coming conservative Supreme Court justice ahead of next year's election.
Notably, state Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Bradley, once viewed as the future of the conservative movement in Wisconsin, said last month she will not seek reelection, citing in part concerns over the current state of the party, according to three GOP sources. Multiple Republicans said Bradley had concerns the party did not have robust staffing to help her mount an expensive campaign.
