A driver and passenger died after the driver crashed an SUV into another vehicle head-on in Prince George's County early Sunday while driving the wrong way, authorities said.

The crash occurred on Route 4 at Woodyard Road. Maryland State Police responded at about 3:20 a.m.

According to the initial investigation, the driver of a gray Toyota RAV4 was headed south on northbound Route 4 and crashed head-on with a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The driver of the RAV4 and a passenger in the Jeep were pronounced dead on the scene. The Jeep’s driver was taken to a hospital via private vehicle.
