Preliminary costs approved by the West Bloomfield school board for demolition and asbestos abatement at Roosevelt Elementary could increase.
There will be a school board meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. where two agenda items – abatement and air filtration – set to be discussed that could change the total cost estimates voted on over a year ago.
When the board approved bids for the entire process at their March 18, 2024 meeting, they approved $558,000 for contracts to cover $465,000 for demolition of the building and $93,000 for asbestos cleanup. There were 10 bids submitted for demolition and three for cleanup.
According to the agenda, the board could vote on additional abatement work at a cost not to exceed $43,240, and further approve the allocation of $150,000 in additional contingency
