A Welland man was arrested after a brief pursuit in Belleville Saturday night. Around 10 p.m., Belleville Police received an Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) hit on a vehicle travelling with unattached plates in the northeast end. When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. A pursuit was initiated until the driver lost control of the vehicle. A male exited the vehicle and fled on foot but was arrested shortly after.

Twenty-year-old Logan Connell was arrested and charged with:

Dangerous operation

Flight from peace officer

Failure to comply with release order

He was also charged under the Highway Traffic act with various offences.

He was held for a bail hearing.
