A man was fatally struck by a Metra train near McCormick Place Monday morning on the Near South Side, causing several delays and cancellations.

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. when inbound train #308 on the Metra Electric Line hit the man just south of the McCormick Place station, 2301 S. King Dr., a spokesperson with Metra said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his identity hasn’t been released.

Metra Electric trains #215, #216, #115, #317, #318 and 120 will not operate Monday because of the crash while other trains were running up to 45 minutes behind schedule, Metra officials said.

Metra police were investigating.
