A man was killed Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle in Brooklyn Park.

Anne Arundel County police said they responded to the area of southbound Ritchie Highway near Hammonds Lane around 4:45 a.m. for a report of pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers located a man with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he later died.

An investigation revealed the man was crossing Ritchie Highway from the west side of the roadway near the intersection of Hammonds Lane. He was then struck by a Chevrolet Suburban traveling southbound on Ritchie Highway.

The driver and a witnesses remained on scene. The crash remains under investigation.
