DAN Marino has revealed he went through a secret health battle years ago.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Marino revealed that he fought liver disease in 2007.

Marino went for a routine checkup, and only recalled feeling "a little fatigued."

"I wasn't really working out as much as I should — because I used to work out when I played all the time and I kind of got away from that a little bit," Marino told PEOPLE.

It turns out that there was something wrong with Marino, and it was caught during his checkup.

"Those are the things I kind of noticed," Marino said.

"Then they told me I had a fatty liver. I had MASH."

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis, also known as MASH, was once known as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
