VALPARAISO — A 20-year-old Chesterton man is accused of repeatedly molesting a child he knows, with the last incident just a few weeks ago, records show.

Matthew Coxie is charged with four counts of child molesting based on allegations of abuse occurring between April 1, 2023 and Aug. 21, according to Chesterton police.

Coxie reportedly admitted to some of the allegations, while denying others, according to a court document. He reportedly admitted to ten instances of abuse.

Police said they learned of the allegations Aug. 26 while interviewing the child about another case.

Bond has been set for Coxie at $25,000 cash and he appeared to remain in custody late Monday morning at the Porter County Jail.
