The Somerset Briar Jumpers improved to 3-1 in the season with the defeat of the Paris Greyhounds on the road Friday night. Kris Hughes led the Briar Jumpers with four touchdowns and 147 yards on the ground, and went 7-10 through the air with one score, as the senior athlete officially surpassed 3,000 career rushing yards.

Somerset scored quickly to start off the game, as a 55-yard run from Hughes gave the Jumpers a 7-0 lead after a Julian Carroll PAT with just a minute and a half gone from the clock. After a failed Paris drive, a Hughes pass to Alex Decker again got the Jumpers, well, jump started on offense. On a third down, Hughes ran it in again, this time from 28 yards out to make it 14-0 in favor of the visitors with just a little over five minutes to go in the period.
