PITTSBURGH (WTAJ) -- NFL Insider Ian Rapoport says the Steelers are not placing Alex Highsmith on injured reserve, a huge break for Pittsburgh who has lost several key players early in the season.
Highsmith injured his ankle during the first half of Pittsburgh's 31-17 loss to Seattle Sunday, and never returned. Pittsburgh's decision to keep Highsmith off the injured reserve is a huge break, and shows that the team expects him back sooner rather than later.
The NFL injured reserve designation requires players to miss, at minimum, four games.
