OTTAWA — Shouts of “shame on you” and “let him go” greeted Ottawa police Tuesday morning as officers arrested a participant in the raucous but peaceful protests greeting MPs and staffers as Parliament resumed Tuesday morning.

Details on the circumstances of the arrest weren’t immediately clear, but police took down a middle-aged man in a high-viz orange jacket just after 10:20 a.m.

Ottawa police confirmed to the Sun that, as of noon, officers made two arrests in connection with Monday’s protests. Charges, the spokesperson said, have not yet been laid.

Parliamentary Protective Service members had just finished erecting steel barriers to separate the protesters from those entering Parliament via the steps at West Block, near O’Connor and Wellington Sts.
