Across college football, no team has more players from Clark County on its roster than Western Oregon.

Thirteen local student-athletes are continuing their football careers in Monmouth, with a handful playing key roles for the NCAA Division-II team. That outpaces Portland State (7), George Fox (7), Linfield (6) and Central Washington (6) for the most rostered players from Clark County.

Saturday, the Wolves took on a higher-division opponent, traveling to face Cal Poly of the Big Sky Conference. Though Western Oregon lost 56-7, three local players stood out on defense.

Daron Ulrich, a senior from Union, started at cornerback and had a team-high six tackles.

Though he’s a true freshman, Sawyer Muehlbauer started at defensive tackle. The Skyview alum had five tackles.
