The Southern Nevada Health District is calling on parents to have their young children tested for lead poisoning after 52 children under age 6 in Clark County were found to have elevated blood lead levels in 2024.

The Southern Nevada Health District reported that these children had blood lead levels at or above the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention threshold of 3.5 micrograms per deciliter, officials said today in a news release. However, health officials estimate only 3.4% of children in the county are tested, meaning many cases likely go undetected.
