MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A 14-year-old student was arrested Sunday after Manatee County deputies said he made a mass school shooting threat on Snapchat.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office said it was notified of threats being made on the social media app around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Deputies said the teen, a 9th grader at Braden River High School, stated he was going to shoot multiple individuals at the school.

The 14-year-old was charged with written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism.

He was arrested and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center early Monday.

After searching the boy's home, deputies said they determined he did not have access to any unsecured firearms.
