SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Springfield police seized an illegal gun while arresting two people for shoplifting at Walmart on Boston Road Friday afternoon.
Police said the two suspects were “skip-scanning” at self-checkout, meaning they pretended to scan items without paying for them.
They were caught when they went to leave, and over a dozen items were recovered along with a loaded gun which was reported stolen out of Connecticut.
29-year-old Cedrick Simmons of Springfield was arrested and now faces charges in addition to motor vehicle charges from a prior arrest warrant.
24-year-old Lizeida Reyes of Holyoke was also arrested and faces a shoplifting charge.
