PECULIAR, Mo. (KCTV) - Charges have been filed against a man who state officials say assaulted a construction worker.

On Sept. 13, 2025, the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Andrew Michael Smith, 36, of Blue Springs, Missouri.

According to court documents, Smith was driving eastbound on Missouri Route YY shortly before noon that day when he approached a construction zone at River Ridge Road and was prompted to stop.

The construction worker controlling traffic later advised that he could only allow cars to go down the road one at a time while the other lane was being repaved.

He said Smith pulled up to his stop sign, then tried to drive around him.

The worker said he yelled for Smith to stop, so Smith rolled down his window and started arguing, saying he did not see any oncoming
