Rain blanketed the neighborhood around Wrigley Field on Saturday morning and the forecast didn’t look good. It looked like it might rain on and off all the way through the start of Saturday’s game against the Rays, which just seemed totally uncalled for, especially with word spreading earlier in the week that Saturday would be Anthony Rizzo’s day to retire a Cub at Wrigley Field.
But by 10:30 a.m., as if on cue, the rain clouds began to dissipate around the neighborhood. By the time gates opened a little after 11, it was a perfect day at the Friendly Confines and the stage was set for a pretty magical Saturday at the old ballpark.
