COLUMBIA, S.C. — September is National Sickle Cell Awareness Month. Here's how Columbia will support and raise awareness.
Columbia Mayor Daniel Rickenmann will officially proclaim September as “Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Month” during a ceremony at City Hall on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 4 p.m., alongside the James R. Clark Memorial Sickle Cell Foundation , which provides services to those living with sickle cell disease across the Midlands.
The 19th Annual Sickle Cell Walk , set for Saturday, Sept. 27, at 8 a.m. will take place at Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Columbia.
