BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. — After three troopers were struck on South Carolina roadways in just one month, Highway Patrol says it’s time to crack down with a week-long enforcement blitz called Operation Keep Us Safe .

Colonel Christopher Williamson, commander of the Highway Patrol, said the initiative comes after three separate roadside crashes involving troopers.

“In less than 1 month, we have had 3 South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers injured or killed while working outside of their vehicles on the roadside with blue lights flashing," Williamson said. "It’s not getting through to drivers on our road, the need to pay attention, slow down and move over when you see emergency lights ahead.”
