COLUMBIA, S.C. — It’s been a comfortable start to the week in the Midlands. Communities are enjoying a stretch of pleasant weather, thanks to dry air and a weak area of high pressure lingering over the Appalachian region.

But changes, for the short term, are on the horizon as a Carolina coastal cloud coverage with some precipitation begins to influence conditions in South Carolina.

While some showers and thunderstorms have been developing along the coast, they are expected to remain well east of the Midlands for now.

However, some cloud cover associated with the an area of low pressure well off the beaches, will begin moving into the Palmetto State overnight and into Tuesday.
