U.S. Sen. Elissa Slotkin, a former CIA analyst, said Russian President Vladimir Putin is thumbing his nose at President Donald Trump by launching a large-scale attack on Ukraine’s capital, violating the airspace of NATO allies and meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The incidents happened after Trump met with Putin last month at a U.S. air base in Alaska.
Slotkin, D-Holly, said that Trump hoped to end Russia’s war with Ukraine, as well as conflicts in the Middle East, in an effort to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
“(Trump) rolls out the red carpet, cozies up to (Putin), and the data points since then are basically like a thumb in the eye to Trump, right?” Slotkin said Saturday, Sept. 13, on CNN’s “The Amanpour Hour.”
