EAST LANSING – Michigan State’s road opener isn’t a short trip.
The Spartans (3-0) will kick off Big Ten play at No. 25 USC (3-0, 1-0) on Saturday (11 p.m. ET, FOX) attempting to extend their unbeaten start.
Here are three things we learned about Michigan State from coach Jonathan Smith’s press conference on Monday afternoon:
1. Travel tweaks
Year two of the expanded Big Ten means another West Coast trip for the Spartans and there will be changes to their travel plans. It was already going to be different after losing 31-10 at Oregon on a Friday night last year but additional tweaks are coming.
“We definitely learned from year one,” Smith said. “Last year’s trip was quite different just because it was a short week.”
