DES MOINES, Iowa -- We've had a few spotty showers and storms today, but most of the viewing area has missed out on rainfall. That will change starting Wednesday. Your weather timeline breaks down the next 48 hours:

Lows tonight will again be warm given the time of year. And we've again fallen below average in terms of rainfall for the month.

An upper-level area of low pressure will move over our neck of the woods starting Wednesday. Another area of low pressure on the East Coast will remain nearly stationary, and a high over the Great Lakes and southeastern Canada will do the same. In short, the atmosphere will be on "pause".
